MARKET ANALYSIS
The S&P BSE Sensex witnessed sharp selling in the last hour of trade as traders chose to keep their positions light ahead of the state assembly results on Sunday.The S&P BSE Realty Index fell 2.67 per cent, the S&P BSE FMCG Index was 1.34 per cent lower and the S&P BSE Auto Index declined 1.04 per cent.
The Nifty closed at 6160.95, down 40.90 points or 0.66 per cent. It touched a high of 6,209.15 and a low of 6,149.90 in trade today.
The market breadth was negative on the BSE with 1136 gainers against 1342 losers
The foreign institutional investors bought shares worth Rs 516.59 crore while domestic institutional investors were net sellers worth Rs 671.26 crore on Tuesday as per the provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
